28.02.2020 - The Kosovo Institute for Nature Protection during the year 2019 conducted a study of natural values in the territory of the municipality of Viti.
During the fieldwork, the teams of the Institute in cooperation with the municipal environmental officers of Viti have recorded for protection 7 new natural values such as: the Bungbute trunk (Quercus pubescens) in Zhiti, the thermomineral water spring in Ballancë, the Oak trunks (Quercus cerris) in Binçë, the Oak trunk (Quercus cerris) in Germovë, the Mllakë forest (Quercus sp.) in Upper Sllatinë, the Oak trunks complex (Quercus sp.) in Lower Sllatinë, as well as the Blinavena Rock in Gjylekarë.
The list of natural monuments along with the studies prepared for each of these areas has been submitted for approval to the Municipal Assembly of Viti, where yesterday, on 27.02.2020, this Municipal Assembly made a decision for the approval and protection of these natural values within the territory of this municipality. On this occasion, seven new objects have also been added to the list of Kosovo's natural values, expanding the list of protected areas in Kosovo to 217 protected areas of different categories.
