10.02.2021 - The annual reporting process in the field of waste management by the municipalities of Kosovo is discussed
The Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, in cooperation with the Association of Kosovo Municipalities (AKK), and the Sustainable Municipal Services Program (SMS) – GIZ, held a joint meeting of the working group consisting of Municipal Directors of Public Services and Municipal Waste Management Officers (MWMOs), regarding the coordination of the reporting process for the purposes of the Municipal Performance Grant - Clean Environment.
This activity is related to the continuation of the cooperation between AMMK and the Association of Municipalities of Kosovo together with GIZ, in assessing the fulfillment of obligations by the Municipalities in the field of waste management, improving the environmental situation in general, and creating an integrated waste management system in particular. On this occasion, the process of annual reporting according to standardized forms in the field of waste management was discussed, where the representatives of the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency (AMMK) also presented the new indicators in the field of reporting through the new format, which can build a modern and functional system for municipal waste management.
This report will assess the current state of municipal waste management regarding waste collection, revenue collection, and illegal dumping, as well as describe findings that can guide policy-making and planning processes in the future.
One of the topics of interest was also the process of fulfilling the execution indicators and deadlines by the Municipalities of Kosovo according to the specified criteria, as well as the assessment process in the third round of the Municipal Performance Grant - Clean Environment.
