21/05/2021 - The Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, specifically the Kosovo Institute for Nature Protection, within the framework of the Work Plan for the year 2021, has prepared the Professional Justification for taking the “Sllatina Pines” area under protection in the category of Protected Landscape.
Based on the requirements of the Law on Nature Protection (No. 03/L-233), specifically Article 20 (Content of the proposal for declaration) Point 3: The public is informed about the proposal for the declaration of the protected area. Public information implies public access to the proposed act for the declaration of the protected area and the professional basis with cartographic documentation. Based on these requirements, the draft document Professional Justification for taking the “Sllatina Pines” area under protection in the category of Protected Landscape is subjected to public discussion.
The public discussion will be open from 21.05.2021 until 21.06.2021. According to the Law on Nature Protection No. 03/L-233, a Protected Landscape is a natural or artificial area with high landscape and biological diversity value or with cultural-historical value, or a landscape with uniquely preserved features characteristic for the specific area, dedicated to rest and recreation. In the protected landscape, interventions and works that disrupt the characteristics for which it was declared protected are not allowed.
The main objective intended to be achieved with the declaration of this area as a protected zone is: the protection of the forest ecosystem and biological diversity, their sustainable management, the taking of measures for the revitalization of damaged natural values in this area, the monitoring and control of the area to prevent its degradation, as well as the promotion of the area's tourist and educational values.
Within this process, AMMK/IKMN expects the involvement of all interested parties, especially experts and various associations who, through comments and recommendations, can help in the completion of the final document.
