26.06.2021 - The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is supporting the institutions of Kosovo to develop Capacity Building for Disaster Risk Reduction through the National Forest Fire Information System (NFFIS) and ecosystem-based solutions.
The main beneficiary of the project is the Kosovo Emergency Management Agency. Currently, the project is in the phase of identifying the availability of data and data sources from the relevant institutions and agencies in Kosovo.
Within the framework of these activities, the Kosovo Environmental Protection Agency, as one of the partners and beneficiaries of the project, has hosted separate meetings with the Japanese expert team (JET). The meetings were held at the Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute and at the Directorate for the Assessment of the State of
Environment, where bilateral cooperation with the project in providing relevant data for the National Forest Fire Information System (NFFIS) was discussed, focusing on hydrometeorological data, land cover data, data on protected areas, and other data produced by AMMK. The National Forest Fire Information System will be a reference point for important and useful source data for all institutions whose work is related to forest fire management.
